ROCHESTER, NY -- The Rochester Rhinos have announced today that the club has signed defender Ross Smith. The contract is subject to USL and USSF approval.
Smith, a Canadian born defender had been playing with Dagenham and Redbridge F.C. in England's Second Division where he represented the club in England’s prestigious FA Cup. He recorded one goal during his stint with Dagenham and Redbridge.
His European experience also includes time with Montrose, a Scottish semi-professional club and Ebbsfleet United which plays its games in the English Conference National.
“Ross is a good defender who brings a presence in the back with his leadership. He’s very vocal and will help us grow upon what we already have” said Head Coach Darren Tilley.
He is the son of Graham and Elizabeth, who are both Scottish-born, giving Ross dual British/Canadian citizenship.
Smith is not eligible to begin playing for the Rhinos until July 15 when the international transfer window opens. Until then he is allowed to train with the Rhinos.
