USL-1 Timbers to play friendly versus PDL Timbers

PORTLAND, OR -- The Portland Timbers have come to an agreement to loan forward Antouman Jallow to Swedish club Sandvikens IF, it was announced today pending league approval and international clearance.

Jallow, 28, will join Sandvikens IF, which competes in Sweden’s fourth division, for the remainder of the club’s season. Sandvikens IF faces Gamla Uppsala SK in its next match Saturday.

A native of Uppsala, Sweden, Jallow appeared in two league matches this season for Portland and scored a goal in the club’s 3-0 road win over the Miami FC Blues on July 19. He also scored in the team’s exhibition match against Bayern Munich II on July 2.

Prior to joining the Timbers in 2009, Jallow played four seasons in Sweden’s top leagues while with clubs Gefle IF (2005-06) and Sirius IK (2007-08).

TIMBERS TO HOST FIRST KIDS DAY AT PGE PARK

The Portland Timbers will play host to their first Nike Kids Day presented by Providence Health & Services at PGE Park on Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., it was announced. The exhibition event will feature a match between the Timbers and Timbers U-23s as well as a series of educational presentations built around soccer and healthy living.

Tickets are $8, with groups of 15 or more receiving a discounted rate of $5. All tickets can be purchased through the Timbers ticket office by contacting Ryan Brunkhardt at (503) 553-5467 or rbrunkhardt@pgepark.com.

Highlighting the day is the first-ever matchup between the Timbers and the club’s Premier Development League team, the Timbers U-23s. Play will be divided into three sessions with informative health and fitness talks from the Timbers and Providence separating the action. Specific topics to be covered include respiratory health and ACL injury prevention.

“We are proud to team up with the Portland Timbers to help keep kids healthy," said Chris Van Wagner, Providence sports therapy manager.

Other Kids Day activities include a post-game autograph session with Timbers and Timbers U-23s players and a commemorative Kids Day poster giveaway for the first 1,000 spectators courtesy of Providence Health & Services.
