CHARLESTON, SC -- The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with two players for the upcoming USL First Division season. Forward Darren Spicer comes to Charleston after spending his rookie season with the Minnesota Thunder. Midfielder Nate Norman was a member of the USL 2 Cleveland City Stars in 2007 but missed the majority of the season through injury; both players are signed pending USSF approval.
Charleston Battery head coach, Mike Anhaeuser,
“Darren and Nate are two new players for the 2008 season. Darren was with the Minnesota Thunder last year and I was impressed with his ability and strong scoring record particularly at the end of the season. I was interested in Nate after watching him at the MLS combine last January as he showed excellent attacking ability from the wing; like Darren he will bring a new look to our squad as he competes for a position in the team. Both Darren and Nate have the potential to be impact players in our league”
Forward Darren Spicer played 17 games for the Minnesota Thunder in 2007 scoring two goals and adding 3 assists. A native of Southern California, Spicer was originally drafted by Chivas USA with the first pick of the second round of the 2006 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
