ROCHESTER, NY -- Rochester Raging Rhinos Executive Vice President Matthew Ford announced today that the team has loaned defender Scott Palguta to the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer.

“It’s a good experience for him,” said Rhinos Head Coach Laurie Calloway. “It’s good for him to keep in top shape as it will only benefit both him and us in preparation for the 2008 season.”

Palguta has been trying out with the Red Bulls organization for the past two preseasons. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound defender will be on a 10-day short term loan, starting March 14th and ending March 24th. Palguta is expected to return to Rochester upon completion of the loan.

Palguta completed the 2007 campaign with eight points (2+4) and was one of two players to appear in all 28 games for the Rhinos. He finished fourth in the United Soccer League with 2,477 minutes played. Further, Palguta found his name on the USL First Division Team of the Week for Weeks Three and Four of the 2007 season.

The Rhinos kick-off their 2008 campaign on Friday, May 2nd with a 7:30 p.m. match against the Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium. The Rhinos' home opener is scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at PAETEC Park. Rochester will open its home slate at 7:35 p.m. against the Battery.
